The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released its proposal for a nationwide one-touch, make-ready (OTMR) policy that would mean some CWA members’ work will go to contractors who don’t have the skills and training to complete the work safely.
OTMR would allow new attachers that want to add equipment to a utility pole to move other companies’ existing equipment. Pole attachment work is complex, and if done incorrectly, can cause electrocution or poles to fall. This proposal puts lives at risk.
CWA members like me are highly trained career employees who know the equipment and the conditions of utility poles. By adopting this proposal, the FCC is turning good, middle-class jobs into low-wage contractor jobs. We have to stop them. Please submit a comment: :
